Jamie Paxton, L.Ac. & Dipl.O.M.
I am a licensed and nationally board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist focused on the intersection of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. I believe that treatment is most effective when it strives to uncover the underlying roots of illness and aims to restore balance and proper functioning throughout the body’s systems. Through this gentle and comprehensive approach, my goal is to alleviate immediate issues while also empowering a deeper level of healing to support ongoing wellbeing and resiliency.
I hold a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture and a B.A. from Duke University. In addition, I have completed studies in both Chinese and Western Herbalism, pulse diagnosis in the Shen Hammer tradition, and a two-year training with Lonny Jarrett on developmental medicine and strategies for integrating Five Element and Eight Principle treatment approaches. Prior to studying Chinese Medicine, I was a professional chef and worked to advocate for local and sustainable food systems. My approach to wellness is informed by this background as well as my long-term yoga and meditation practices, and a deep appreciation of nature. Chinese Medicine has been a great source of healing in my life, and I hope to share that experience with you.
